On March 23, 2026, a delegation from the New Zealand Consulate-General, Guangzhou, led by Consul-General Mr. Michael Zhang and Deputy Consul-General Ms. Paige Kawana, visited Key Group and held a discussion session at The Oceania Center.

Consul-General Mr. Zhang noted that this was his first official visit to Hainan since assuming office, and that his visit to Key Group marked the first stop of his itinerary in the province. He stated that the purpose of the visit was to gain an understanding of Key Group’s cooperation projects and development layout in Hainan.
He noted that Hainan is playing an increasingly important role in China–New Zealand relations. With the advancement of the Hainan Free Trade Port, more New Zealand enterprises are paying close attention to the opportunities brought by its development. The Consul-General also sought to understand how Key Group, as a key enterprise engaging with New Zealand in Hainan, leverages the policy advantages of the Free Trade Port and contributes to promoting business and investment cooperation between New Zealand and Hainan, as well as with China more broadly.

During the meeting, Mr. Kevin Sun, Co-founder and CEO of Key Group, and Mr. Steven Zhu, Co-founder of Key Group, introduced the Group’s latest development strategy and progress in partnerships. Leveraging the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Key Group is using The Oceania Center as a platform to build a two-way bridge for cross-border investment and industrial collaboration, with a focus on advancing in-depth cooperation and resource integration between China and New Zealand across multiple sectors. Liu Meng, GM of Hainan United Asset, introduced Hainan FTP policies and the Great Health project with Key Group.
The Consul-General Mr. Zhang also gained an understanding of Key Group’s three core focus areas in the broader context of the Hainan Free Trade Port: health and wellness, technological innovation, and cross-border capital cooperation. He gained further knowledge of other key areas such as the introduction of medical resources into Hainan, the localization of New Zealand biotechnology and agri-tech, and two-way investment between China and New Zealand. He expressed his expectation to further promote pragmatic cooperation between New Zealand and Hainan in the future.
